By hook or by BOOK
Maintaining a diary to pen down my thoughts has been a habit which I have nurtured since 5th grade. While I flip through the pages of my life, it fills me with astonishment. Some snippets make me laugh, some leave me in grief while others are just moments which bring me a smile on my face.
Thanks to the festive season , I happened to find my dairy again after ages. Hence, it took me no long pour my heart. I glanced through the previous note before i began to write down. It made me content to see how I have grown as a person since the last time.
The most interesting fact which I came across while I was writing was that , I am reading 3 books simultaneously and to add to it all of them being of different genres altogether.
WOW! I never thought I would ever do that. Haha. Precisely speaking they are :
1. Bloodline by Sidney Sheldon
Genre-Crime thriller
2.Krishna’s secret By Devdutt Pattanaik
Genre-Mythology
3. Think Straight by Darius Foroux
Genre- Self Help
Ironically, these all are blending too very well for me. I feel like as though I have a chamber for each of them, and each time I choose one amongst these three, the chamber opens up and tadaa-I am in. No intrusion from the other chambers whatsoever.
Best part about it is the fact that when I am idle, subconsciously I tend to set free the boundaries and connect dots between them all. Who actually knew musing genres would be fun!
If you want to be a writer, you must do two things above all others: read a lot and write a lot-Stephen King
Rightly said by Sir Stephen. Writing and reading are faces of same coin ; they go hand in hand. My respect for the art of writing stems from the envy towards fiction writers who not only create a world of their own so beautifully but are also able to make others a part of it.
Since childhood, I have admired my father’s habit of reading. Hence, his knowledge is commendable and often left me in awe. I remember, he bought me Tinkle when i was a kid. That’s how it all started.
From then I’ve read a decent amount of books. Jeffery Archer, Dan Brown, JK Rowling, Devdutt Pattanaik, Paulo Coelho , Chetan Bhagat, Durjoy Dutta, Sherlock Holmes are a few to name. The more I read, the more I learn.
Until a few days back, I was reluctant on reading hardcover/paperback books but then I started with the Kindle edition of Krishna’s Secret and Thinking straight. Surprisingly, it isn’t that bad as I had assumed. Which surely means that, a reader finds his way whatsoever and the medium doesn’t matter much.
A new self is discovered each time I finish off a book. For this journey of self discovery, I am most grateful to my father.
Reading has made me wiser and writing has made me sane.
Self help, non fiction, rom coms are not my cup of tea but would love to give them a shot. Any suggestions are welcome in the comments section.
Also, I would love to know your experience in reading. Hope we could connect here.
